What is Eurovision


   The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual competition held among countries of the European Broadcastic Union. Each country is represented by a song that is performed on live television. People of all these countreis which participate vote so that they chose the best and the most popular song. The song of which country will win the following year the Contest will be broadcasted in that country.

   Before Eurovision Song Contest, each country choses a song and a singer to present their own country in this international competition. The Contest has been going on from 1956 and it is one of the longest-running television programmes in the world. Furthermore, Eurovision Song Contest is one of the most watched events in the world with audience between 100 million and 600 million internationally. From 2000, the Contest has been broadcasted on Internet, so in 2006 more than 74,000 people in almost 140 countreis watched it online. Eurovision has also been broascast outside Europe to such places such as Hong Kong, India, Canada, Australia, Mexico, New Zeland, Jordan, South Africa, South Korea, Vietnam, United States and Egypt despite the fact that these countries do not participate or compite.

    Wow I like this blog, it’s interesting. I love Eurovision Song Contest, I have been watching it for 10 years now and I like some songs very much. I read this blog and I learned many things that I didnt know before although i am a big fan of Eurovision. I am looking forward to see it this year :-)
